Bundaberg’s Steve Richter is a professional photographer, cyclist and father who has always set his own course. At 44 years of age, he still cycles competitively, using the ring road and the streets of Bundaberg as his training grounds. Most mornings he will cover at least 40 kilometres - on his back. Steve's vehicle of choice is not conventional; his hand-cycle allows him to cruise inches from the ground in an aerodynamic reclining position, using the power in his arms to turn the crank. The hand-cycle replaced his pushbike 11 years ago following a T7 spinal cord injury from a motorcycle accident. The Queensland Police Service (QPS) is offering Indigenous Australians the chance to be a part of a preparation program for those looking to join the next recruitment surge. The QPS offers positions in the Indigenous Recruit Preparation Program (IRPP) as a paid, 10-week, full-time course at the QPS Academy that provides theoretical and practical components to give and reinforce the skills needed to complete the Recruit Training Program. Home Care celebrates 2019

IWC Home Care celebrated another successful year today, looking back on the many outings, information days and social occasions that made 2019 special. IWC Home Care services help the aged and frail members of our communities maintain independence. Their services include domestic assistance, basic home maintenance and shopping support; these services are provided by IWC in Bundaberg and the North Burnett.

Working with people of all ages, they treat a broad range of health conditions, including sports injuries, musculoskeletal conditions and chronic health conditions. AS PART of IWC’s Stage 2 development a new Gym will be coming to Bundaberg. Learning bus routes at Try Before u Ride

LEARNING the benefits of a modern commute was the order the day at the PCYC, as people of all ages and abilities came together for a special tour of Bundaberg. Sitting aboard a brand new Mercedes’-powered bus driven by Duffy’s City Buses Manager Chris Duffy, the passengers were taking part in a ‘Try Before u Ride’ session. Organised by IWC in partnership with the PCYC and the local bus company, this session offered the community a chance to learn more about local bus routes and familiarise themselves with the more accessible modern vehicles.
