COMMUNITY and culture were at the centre of the Official Opening of the new IWC North Burnett facility on Thursday 16 September. Elders, Traditional Owners and other Indigenous community members were among almost 100 people at the event which featured Eidsvold State School students delivering traditional Indigenous dance, led by Corey Appo, and a didgeridoo performance by Dale Brown. IWC CHARITY GOLF DAY GIVES A LIFT TO LIFEFLIGHT
The 2021 IWC North Burnett Charity Golf Day has raised more than $2,400 for the local operations of LifeFlight. The annual event, held this year on 14 August, drew almost 90 players to the greens at Gayndah Golf Club. It was the fourth year the community event had been held by IWC at Gayndah Golf Club to mark National Reconciliation Week, and it has been growing year-on-year. The IWC North Burnett Health & Wellbeing Community Centre will be officially opened on Thursday 16 September. The official event will be strictly invitation only, due to COVID restrictions, but from 1pm-2pm that day the community will be invited to take a short tour of the new centre, including viewing the artworks and screens. IWC CENTRE BRINGS COMMUNITY TOGETHER TO SHARE STORIES, HISTORY AND HOPE
SHARING stories and history will be part of the focus of the new IWC North Burnett Health & Wellbeing Community Centre, thanks to an innovative cultural project. Working with Traditional Owners and Elders from the region’s townships, IWC has been creating a visual display that will incorporate original artworks to be displayed, and also transformed into aluminium screens to wrap the new centre. “IWC is committed to bringing together, and empowering, the Voice of our communiti
