Turning Pink into Purpose

For the third consecutive year, IWC has proudly supported staff member Sherrie in hosting her annual Go PINK for Breast Cancer Morning Tea - a heartfelt initiative that continues to raise vital funds and awareness for breast cancer research.
A splash of pink with a powerful purpose
Each year, Sherrie goes all in for the cause, wearing something pink every day and even colouring her hair pink throughout the fundraising campaign. What may begin as a fun splash of colour often becomes the starting point for meaningful conversations about breast cancer awareness, the importance of research, and the impact this disease has on so many Australian families.
A personal story behind the fundraiser
Behind Sherrie’s fundraiser is a deeply personal story. She launched the initiative after her mum was diagnosed with breast cancer in January 2024. Thankfully, her mum is one of the lucky ones. While she continues her treatment journey, her results have shown positive progress, giving their family hope for the future.
Why awareness matters
Breast cancer remains one of Australia’s most common cancers. On average, 56 people in Australia are diagnosed with breast cancer every day, and more than 3,300 people are expected to die from the disease each year.
Through her annual fundraiser, Sherrie hopes these conversations encourage people to book a health check, follow up with their healthcare provider, or speak with a loved one about the importance of early detection. Simple conversations like these can have a powerful impact - and may even save lives.
This year’s Go PINK for Breast Cancer Morning Tea raised an incredible $2,252.00 for breast cancer research.
The achievement was made possible thanks to the generosity of everyone who donated, attended the morning tea, shared the fundraiser, volunteered their time, or simply showed their support. Every contribution helped raise vital funds while shining a light on a cause that touches the lives of so many.
Community spirit in action
IWC is incredibly proud to support passionate staff members like Sherrie, whose dedication extends beyond the workplace and into the community. Her commitment, compassion and determination are a reminder of the difference one person can make when others come together behind a shared cause.
Looking ahead
While this year’s event has come to a close, the journey doesn’t stop here. Plans are already underway for the 2027 Go PINK for Breast Cancer Morning Tea, with the hope of raising even more awareness, more funds, and continued support for the important work of breast cancer research.
Together, we can continue to spread awareness, encourage early detection, and help create a future where fewer families are impacted by breast cancer.
