Walk-in, bulk-billed medical care

IWC is proud to deliver the Bundaberg Medicare Urgent Care Clinic for our local community.

Medicare Urgent Care Clinics (UCCs) provide bulk-billed care and treatment of minor acute conditions that don't require emergency hospital admission when you're unable to see your regular GP.

UCCs are available to everyone with a current and valid Medicare card.

When can I use the Medicare Urgent Care Clinic?

Call 000 or Visit Emergency
Call triple zero (000) or visit the Hospital Emergency Department, if you or someone is experiencing an injury or illness that you believe is life-threatening. Examples include, chest pain or tightness, uncontrollable bleeding, severe burns, breathing difficulties, altered level of consciousness or seizures, poisoning.
See your regular GP
Medicare Urgent Care Clinics are not designed to provide treatment for regular checkups or chronic conditions, including non-urgent, routine and preventative health care. If you do not require urgent attention, please see your regular GP.
Visit Medicare Urgent Care Clinic
Medicare Urgent Care Clinics can provide bulk-billed care and treatment of minor acute conditions that don't require emergency hospital admission, including respiratory illness, urinary tract infections (UTIs), gastrointestinal illness, sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and minor injuries (including closed fractures, simple lacerations, simple eye injuries and minor burns).

The Bundaberg Medicare Urgent Care Clinic is accessible from the Targo Street entrance of our building.

Accessing the Clinic

Targo Street can be accessed via Sims Road and Spencer Street. Street parking is available along Targo Street. Once you've entered the building, please make your way to the Medicare Urgent Care Clinic reception window.

FAQs

Medicare Urgent Care Clinics provide bulk-billed care and treatment for minor acute conditions that don’t require emergency hospital admission, when you're unable to see your regular GP.

Medicare Urgent Care Clinics are fully bulk-billed, and no out-of-pocket fees apply for treatment provided within the Clinic. Patients must present a valid Medicare card to use the service.

The Bundaberg Medicare Urgent Care Clinic is open to everyone on presentation of a valid Medicare Card. You do not need to be a patient of the IWC Medical Practice.

Attending the Bundaberg Medicare Urgent Care Clinic does not automatically make you a patient of IWC Medical Practice. Once you have been discharged from the Medicare Urgent Care Clinic, you will be referred to your regular GP or another GP, if you haven’t identified having a regular GP, for follow-up care.

Your regular GP will also receive a copy of your Discharge Summary and be copied in on all diagnostic test results and referrals.

You do not need to make an appointment to attend the Bundaberg Medicare Urgent Care Clinic. Walk-ins are accepted. Patients will be triaged and admitted to the service, if suitable.

Yes, Medicare Urgent Care Clinics can treat all age groups for non-life-threatening conditions when a regular GP appointment cannot be secured. For infants and children under the age of 2 years, please call ahead of arrival to speak with a Nurse who can determine suitability for our Clinic.
