Great feedback on Dietitians’ serving of information

CLIENTS at Bundaberg Home Care could not get their fill of the information provided to them at a recent information session delivered by IWC’s two Accredited Practising Dietitians.

The hour-long session, delivered at one of the regular activity days at the Home Care facility, was given a warm welcome by a very interested audience.

“We worked to help the audience identify healthy foods, and to show them how they could take control of their diet and nutrition,” said IWC dietitian Jessica Bauer.

“We held small quizzes, and after the main presentation it was great to sit down one-on-one with the clients and talk through their own questions and needs.”

One client told us: “I learned that I should have smaller portions, and I found it interesting to hear about the different menus I can cook.”

Another said: “I got the message that I must eat more veggies. The speakers gave us good, interesting advice.”

IWC Home Care Bundaberg Manager Lynne Shanahan said the feedback from the session was that everyone felt they had learned something useful or new.

“There were lively discussions and competitions and clients and staff all gained from a nutritional and financial perspective,” she said. “Everyone went home with a healthy pack of an apple and vegetables, and they are looking forward to the next session in November.

“It was generally agreed that the presentation was excellent, and we can’t wait to welcome the IWC dietitians Jessica and Chloe back again. We hold activity sessions twice a week, and welcome informative presentations that enhance the quality of life of our clients.”
