In addition to IWC's $30 million, 7,000sqm Health & Wellbeing Complex in Bundaberg, in 2021 IWC is completing a purpose-built $2.43 million centre in Gayndah, North Burnett.

It will provide services and initiatives to all people, Indigenous and non-Indigenous, across the North Burnett region.

IWC has been established in North Burnett since 2014, with an active on-the-ground team of health professionals, and our new-build facility creates a clinical and community “hub” for the region.

IWC is the Aboriginal Medical Service for Bundaberg region (AMS of the Year 2016) and the only Indigenous Primary Health Service provider in North Burnett.

We work across hospitals, healthcare and community services. Case conferencing and Shared Care is embedded in the IWC holistic model of care.

Supporting our communities

IWC is an active community member across the North Burnett and both supports and hosts events throughout the year.

IWC holds the annual fund-raising Golf Day in partnership with Gayndah Golf Club, holds NAIDOC and other celebratory events, a regular Bowls Tournament, and sponsors the bi-annual Orange Festival.

IWC works with all 18 schools across the North Burnett and delivers regular health and hearing checks.

Consultation with Community

The IWC North Burnett Health & Wellbeing Community Centre is positioned in the heart of Gayndah - next door to a school and day care centre, and a short distance from the central shopping area.

IWC listens to the grassroots and works to meet the real needs of the community, and in developing the $2.43 million centre consulted with the community, including holding an open day at the site to answer questions.

IWC North Burnett services are supported by funding from the Department of Health, Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet, and CheckUP.

We also work in partnership with Hearing Australia.
