Charity golf day drives a great result for community

ALMOST 90 players took to the greens at Gayndah Golf Club for the annual IWC North Burnett Charity Golf Day on Saturday August 14.

It was the fourth year the event had been held by IWC at Gayndah Golf Club, and thousands of dollars was raised for the nominated charity, which this year was LifeFlight.

IWC North Burnett Assistant Manager Cynthia George said the community turned out in force to come together in a COVID-safe environment.

“This was the biggest turnout to date, because the event has been growing year on year,” said Ms George. “The event was held to mark Reconciliation Week, and IWC and the Club wanted to continue to send the community a resounding message of positivity by holding this event to support morale during COVID.”

The event was an 18-hole, three-person Ambrose teams’ event, with prizes including Best Net Scores, Best Gross Scores, Nearest the Pin shots and Best Long Drive, as well as over-55s and junior prizes.

“Plus, we had the Winners’ Shield which will go on display at the new IWC Health & Wellbeing Community Centre when it opens in September, plus individual trophies for the three members of the winning team,” said Ms George.

The winning team members were Tim Teague, David Zahl and Steve Zahl with a 54 nett.

IWC is non-government, Aboriginal community-controlled and a Registered Charity, delivering Reconciliation in Action every day and offering services to all people in the region, Indigenous and non-Indigenous.

As a long-established provider of Primary Health Care and community services, IWC is committing further to the region through the construction of a new IWC Health & Wellbeing Community Centre in Gayndah which will support all people right across the North Burnett.
