IWC is committed to providing inclusive, cost-effective health and medical services for all peoples in our regions, both Indigenous and non-Indigenous. Our community-run and charitable organisation has a focus on Indigenous, disadvantaged, at-risk and vulnerable members of our communities, and does not wish to turn away new patients / clients.
Missed appointments are known as Did Not Attend (DNA). Rebooking of appointments not formally cancelled is impossible, and this leads to under-utilisation of GPs’ and other health professionals’ time while there is a strong demand for their expertise.
IWC has a policy that, unless there are extenuating circumstances, patients / clients who fail to attend scheduled appointments (DNA) will:
Be issued in writing (by letter) an invoice for a DNA fee. This fee can be paid over the phone by credit card, or in person by EFTPOS or cash.
No further appointment can be made until the fee is paid.
Should the fee not be paid within 30 days, and there are no extenuating circumstances communicated formally to IWC, the patient / client will be considered as no longer wishing to use IWC health and medical services, and be removed from IWC books.
How we help you keep IWC appointments
