Indigenous Sport and Recreation

The Central Queensland Indigenous Sport & Recreation Program provides funding help to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (ATSI) community members to increase their active participation in:

  • Sport and physical activities.

  • Community health and wellbeing initiatives.

It also is designed to drive community ownership and management of the above activities.

How the program can help

The program helps to deliver the outcomes as outlined above and may be able to assist through such activities as:

  • Helping with the costs of travel and accommodation required to attend sport / physical activity events.

  • Help with the costs of attending coaching or training clinics, ie referee, umpire, tournaments.

As a broad overview (including but not limited to), the following can be funded:

  • Individuals / teams / groups who participate in local, regional, state and school competitions.

  • Local, regional and state events and activities.

In addition, consideration may be given to requests relating to:

  • Sporting infrastructure where this connects to participation in sport and active physical recreational activities.

  • Recreational activities that do NOT include physical exertion.Dangerous and high-risk activities.

  • Events which are not alcohol and drug-free (we encourage smoke-free events).

  • Individual / team registrations or season fees.

Eligibility

 

Any Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander person can apply.

This program is open to individuals or teams / groups of any age living in Central Queensland and seeking a contribution to enable Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander participation in sport or active physical recreational activity.
