Taribelang Culture Tours of Bundaberg

IWC is proud to support the regular Taribelang Culture Tours of Bundaberg, delivered by Traditional Owners Byron Broome and Nicole Tiger.

The Taribelang Culture Tour of Bundaberg offers a rich experience that encompasses the history of the region, delivered from the perspective of Traditional Owners and Elders from the Taribelang tribe, and including a local history of South Sea Islander peoples.

It is delivered to high schools and primary schools, youth groups, our community and business, and delivers a clear message:

“We all as one”

The tours include a visit to the IWC Health & Wellbeing Centre in Bundaberg, where we have a permanent display of historical artefacts in our lobby areas. Traditional Owner Byron Broome presents on the significance of the artefacts, and the tour participants then enjoy a bush tucker tasting before moving on to the next venue.

Open to all primary school-age children and parents / carers

IWC Play & Learn NAIDOC event

STORYTELLING, bubble pictures, dancing, music, beading, cupcake decorating and flag colouring – they’re all lined up for the free 2018 IWC NAIDOC Play & Learn event on 11 July.

The free event is open to primary school-aged children accompanied by a parent or carer, and there is a serious purpose behind the fun.

These sessions are focused on building language skills, literacy and brain development within our young children, and are part of our holistic model of whole-of-person care.

These events involve both the child or children and a parent/carer, who are required to stay at the event and participate with the children. It is about building understanding and knowledge around how playtime is also a learning experience for parent and child together.

The event runs for three hours from 10am-1pm at the Oasis Church Hall, 24 Sims Rd, Walkervale. Bookings are essential. Go to www.bundabergticketmaster.com.au
