Medical Centre

Welcome to IWC's Medical Practice

We are a combined preventative, primary health and community care service complete with General Practitioners. We also provide education for general well being and health intervention strategies aimed at improving the health outcomes for the vulnerable and disadvantaged within our community, inclusive of all.

We are a bulk-billing practice for all Medicare card holders.

Our mission is to provide the highest standard of patient care while incorporating a whole-of-person approach to diagnosis and management of illness. We are committed to promoting health, wellbeing and disease prevention to everyone in the community. Whilst we actively engage in initiatives aimed at Closing the Gap Scheme for Indigenous Australians we do not discriminate in the provision of excellent care - we are a fully operational medical centre that welcomes the entire community.

Urgent Appointments
We have a flexible appointment system for urgent appointments although this may not be with your usual doctor.  Children with worrying illnesses will be dealt with on the day but the appointment may not be with your regular doctor.
Keeping your appointments on time
If you have multiple issues that need to be discussed with the doctor, please inform the reception staff at the time of booking to allow for a longer consultation time. Reasons that you may require longer time with your doctor are: driver’s license (all types including over 75’s), childhood immunisations, medicals, centrelink forms, procedure bookings, and care plans that are arranged by your doctor.

Hours of operation

The Centre is open Monday-Friday 7.45am- 5pm with appointments available Monday-Friday  8am-4.45pm.  Consultations are usually 15 minutes but longer consults are available on request. At the discretion of the doctor, home, hospital and nursing home visits may be arranged with our reception staff.

After-hours care

After-hours care (after 5pm and prior to 8am) is available through the Bundaberg Base Hospital 24-hour Emergency Department.

Address: Cnr of Bourbong St and Hinkler Ave, Bundaberg.

After-hours phone: 07 4150 2222.

On arrival

Please present yourself at our reception desk with your Medicare card and any concession cards.  At each visit reception staff will check your contact details as this assists us in maintaining accurate records.

It is extremely important we have your EMERGENCY CONTACT DETAILS as occasionally situations arise when we may need to contact your designated next of kin.

If you are a new patient, we will provide you with a copy of our IWC Medical Services Booklet, which can also be downloaded in PDF form here.

Translator services

Translator or interpreter services are available, but need to be booked. Please contact the IWC medical reception on 1300 492 492 should an interpreter be required for a medical appointment so that a suitable time can be scheduled with both a doctor and an interpreter.
